Jordan Driskell, a 31-year-old father of five-year-old quintuplets, has faced criticism for using child leashes to manage his energetic children. Raising five kids the same age is no easy task, and Driskell chose leashes to keep them safe in public.
Initially, Driskell’s family relied on a six-seat stroller, but as the children grew, it became less practical. The leashes allow his kids to explore their surroundings while remaining under his watchful eye.
A video of their visit to the aquarium has amassed over 3 million views, igniting a debate. While some viewers criticized the use of leashes, others suggested different parenting or training approaches.
Parenting expert Dr. Deborah Gilboa defended the use of leashes, particularly for young children or those with neurological differences. However, she recommended transitioning to verbal communication as children get older.
Parents should have the freedom to choose the methods that work best for their families without facing undue judgment. What are your thoughts on using child leashes in public? Share your opinions in the comments.
