“She was always there for me, at home or at work,” the tribute noted, emphasizing the comfort and joy she brought to those around her. “Kat’s love and kindness will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you for everything, Kat.”
Bill Bevins, co-host of Virginia This Morning and a longtime colleague, also shared his memories of Kat. “Some people would say, ‘Nobody’s that nice,’” he told CBS affiliate WTVR. “But she was. She really cared.” Bill recalled how Kat would help others by featuring them on her show, likening her to “the Red Cross all by herself.”
Richmond radio host Melissa Chase reflected on Kat’s supportive role in the industry. “It was a boys’ club when we first started out, so women in radio just got together all the time to make sure we were taking care of each other,” she said. “She was like a mom to women in radio. She helped us in a lot of different ways.”
Kat later moved to Midlothian, Virginia, and continued to host the midday show for many years on Mix 98.1 Richmond, formerly known as Lite 98.
In her final Instagram post on June 17, she encouraged her followers to adopt a “sweet and cuddly” dog she had met at a nearby pound, showcasing her enduring love for animals.
Kat Simons’ legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.
