Standing at the altar, Nathan eagerly waited for his fiancée, Jane, expecting her to walk down the aisle in the beautiful white dress they had chosen together. But instead of the joyful moment he had imagined, Jane appeared in a long black dress, revealing a heartbreaking truth that would change everything.
What was meant to be the happiest day of my life turned into a painful memory I’ll never forget.
Jane and I met through a mutual friend, and after only a few dates, we became inseparable. She was the lively, outgoing one, always surrounded by friends, while I was more reserved, preferring quiet moments. But with Jane, things felt different.
She made me feel loved in ways I hadn’t experienced before. Her affection was genuine, and I never doubted her love for me.
A few months into our relationship, I proposed, sure that Jane was the one. She said yes without hesitation, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the ring.
“I can’t believe you said yes,” I told her. “I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
Our relationship deepened, and we began planning a small, intimate wedding with close friends and family. Everything felt perfect—until the wedding day.
As I stood at the altar in my black suit, I expected to see Jane in her white gown. But when she appeared in a black dress, her expression was filled with pain and anger. It was a sight more fitting for a funeral than a wedding.

“I’ll explain after the ceremony,” she replied coldly, her face emotionless.
“No,” I insisted, stopping everything. “Tell me now.”
The room fell silent. All eyes were on us.
With tears in her eyes, Jane revealed the truth. “It’s because of your mother. She told me everything.”
I was shocked. “What are you talking about?”
“She told me about you and Lauren—your best friend,” Jane said, her voice trembling. “She said you’ve been cheating on me and that you planned to leave me for her. I’m wearing black to mourn the love we once had, Nathan.”
I couldn’t believe it. “That’s not true, Jane! Lauren and I are just friends. I swear I’ve never cheated on you.”
I scanned the room for my mother, but she was nowhere to be found. I needed to stop this lie before it ruined everything.
“I don’t believe you,” Jane said, her voice cold. “You’ve been lying to me all along.”
“Please, Jane,” I begged. “My mother never liked you. She’s trying to tear us apart.”
But Jane shook her head. “It’s not just the affair, Nathan. I know your secret. I know you’ve been hiding things from me.”
